Big Problem Help please

Help!! when every i try to play d2 it says unhandled exeption 0000005 or some such thing and it wont let d2 work. i already tryed to reinstall it but that does not work either. can some on help???

Reinstall windows.

Reinstall DirectX first. Run msconfig and see what else is running that you can turn off. Most people have a lot of junk that starts up and is the cause of much crashing and gnashing of teeth.
And I assume you have already run scandisk? And gone to the windowsupdate site to make sure your current? All of these are the first steps to fixing any crashing problem. (except the directX thing, that's specific to games mostly)
If none of that works, then yeah, do a clean install of the OS.

uh is it natural for it to download really fast but afterwords have no progress with the install part?

no. Reinstall windows... winXP and all those versions have problems with games... I stuck with win98, put my old beta-testing cd versions on diff comps, works just fine...

ok i want to reinstall windows but i dont know how and i want to degrade to 2000 but i only have an xp disc because 2000 came with the comp. i found xp sucks so i want to use 2000 can someone help me with this???

You might want to run a virus scan on your pc, i had the same problem and shortly before that i had visited a site that had apparently put a worm in my pc and my accoutn was stolen, now i found out 10 hours later that i have worms in my pc and its not cleanable i dont know what to do now,, i will keep u update,,

i found out on mine that i just had to update a few things, run a virus check(non found) and reinstall directx, then reinstall d2 and it works!! the problem now is i cant hack in open or closed now, when i open the saved folder it doesn't have the east west thing, and when i try to load a char i make in shadowmaster there is nothing in the screen, when i tryed to make a char in the game i couldn't load it in shadowmaster or my stat editor it said something like wrong header section, so if you know anything about this plz help, i will be very thankfull.
