In my field of paper flowers..
i think a rogue or an iron wolf. If you use either one get a cold one, also the rogue has inner sight which lowers enemy defense so that is good. And then for the iron wolf get a cold one too because he uses glacial spike and ise blast and those free target. ;)

That depends on your style of play. If you're a Blessed hammer pally, then get an act V barb to finish off all those enemies you've damaged. If your a melee fighter, then get the act I or III cold enchanted mercs so you can do the reverse role, your hireling weakens the enemy while you finish them off. Just make sure to be ready to run a lot when you get to the middle parts of Act V in Hell difficulty, pretty much everything there is immune to cold.:D

why not, my paladin (lvl86) has a barb also (lvl86) with a grandmasters collosus sword. With lvl20 concentration, that gets him 2000-4000 damage a swing. if we encounter a physically immune monster, I switch to a 1-445 lightning sword and switch my attack/aura to veng/conviction. That keeps us alive and kicking ass most of the time. Not many problems there that I know of.
