Hi, some days ago a huge virus took my comp outta buisness and now I want to prevent that from happening again. I want the best quality I can find. Anyone can tell me which anti-virus (I don't mean free) is the best so I can go buy one? McCafee? Norton? Something else (I doubt it)? Thanks!

This is kinda ironic coming from someone with you're name. ;)

But yea, Norton 2004 would probably be the best way to find viruses. But there's online Virus Scans too if you don't feel like buying Norton. Check the stickies in the Tech Forum section. :)

Just get Norton Antivirus 2004 and Firewall 2004. I have both of them on this computer, and no virus yet. They self-update about 2 times a week, and Firewall notifies me of anything trying to connect to the internet. Add in Ad-Aware, and you have some pretty damn good protection.

AVG is ass. Norton 2k4 is probably the best, but it costs money. For trojans, Tauscan and The Cleaner are pretty good. I've used both, and both worked really well. Avast 4 is probably the best anti-virus software that's free, altho, I don't have personal experiance with this one. Just word of mouth from friends and such. And the best way to keep trojans from getting out is a Firewall. ZoneAlarm is <3 for that purpose.

Norton works okay for me. I scan every once in a while and cleans up random crap on my PC.

No one AV program can protect against every virus, get a well known brand, and a freeware program, Hackers usually try to get through the well known majorly distributed AV programs, so the freeware will pick up w/e Norton/Mcafee doesnt catch.
