Being deployed in iraq this sunday

i joined the army and this sunday i will be deployed in iraq.. im doing this for a friend really.. however me and a few ppl r joinin ill try and keep u guys updated theyre r comps there etc. i wont be able to b on for long but ill try and write net ... its only for 6 months - 1 year me and some friends r joining to honor our one friend that died in the war Peter Enos

he was a great person and it was sad to lose him. so ill b on all this week to say goodbye to everyone and then who knows wut happens..

but jesus, dont even make slight extra risks if its an extra risk. everyone at BF wants you to come home after those 6 months to 1 year, man.

Isn't there training involved first like a year of it...? Something's not right.. I just don't see you 18 years old just legal age getting in.. Then being sent off to Iraq with in a week..

In most cases your right theroy. Theres 1-2 months of bootcamp, then 6-8 months of job training before your stationed to active duty, but it is possible to register at 17 to get in as asap at 18. considering its war time, it is very possible for them to put him on active duty with very little training (reserves only train like 1 weekend every 2-3 months)

Well you joined the army... and you won't be going to Iraq right away... Trust me, I have a friend who is a marine and he is still in training. They send you through boot camp, then months of training after that. So you will not go to Iraq right away. Don't tell me you just joined and they are going to give you a gun and a haircut then send you right off to fight in Iraq.
