I'm the new General Manager, but that's not directly the reason for this thread. There's a few things I want to address and I feel needs to be heard:

1) There is a rather obvious resentment between certain members and certain members of the staff. Whether or not they are justified are finished for now. Forgive and forget because the issues causing personal problems are going away. If anyone feels that they have been unfairly treated just pm me or contact me in some other way and I will look into it.

If everyone just continues bickering and whenever they feel they are treated unfairly and post an extensive flame in the Asylum nothing will get done. People have been doing that for years and it hasn't accomplished much. If anything, it just brings emotion into an issue and guaretees that someone won't be treated fairly.

2) Despite everyone saying it, Battleforums is not dying. If anything, we should be optimistic about this forum. We have a stable and vibrant community. Battleforums has a future through StarCraft 2. We have members who care enough about Battleforums to try to tackle problems. Battleforums is better than it was a month ago with StarCraft 2. A few members have trickled in so far because of it and I suspect more will continue to arrive. I think Battleforums will be better next month than it is this month. Even the fact that people have been unhappy with the state of Battleforums means that people want more from the forum and regardless of how any genuine emotion or attachment is constantly mocked, I know many people are attached to this forum. I could go on and on, but you members of Battleforums should be proud of what you have created.

3) Battleforums can always improve and it all starts with you. You, the members of Battleforums are what make the heart and soul of a forum. No matter how good the leadership or technical aspects of a forum, nothing can be done without you. With this in mind, there will be a thread made in the Arcane Sanctuary for you to voice your opinion on anything dealing with the state of Battleforums and your ideas for the future. You will be able to talk on any issue you wish, however civility is a must. I will be watching over the thread and will guarentee fairness for whatever you have to say. That thread can be seen here.

This is the deal Battleforums. Our forum is improving and with your help this trend will continue.

I agree, but I feel for #1 that people should have some sort of reasoning behind thier disputes. Like you just can't say "I hate the muther****er, I want that member banned cause he gay", which pretty much means you hate the person. You should learn to get over it, and there is a little board called The Asylum, you can go complain there (if people actually do believe and pay attention to you). But even so, nobody really believes threads in the Asylum anymore.

[glow=black]I agree, 100%. I think some of BF's problems are even caused by our perspective and lack of optimism, like you said. I think if we all try to be a little more positive, complain less and act more mature, everyone will be happier.[/glow]

I agree. Simple attitude is everything in a place like this where the people first and foremost are what makes it what it is.

He is just asking the general consensus what they think should be done right. That is a good idea considering then he can get a perspective on every poster and be unbiased.

This is like the 10th new general manager we've had, none of them did anything or lasted more than a week or so. I'm gonna go ahead and put you in that same boat, until you prove to us that you're doing shit. k?

4) There is now a new set of rules in effect for Administrators, General Managers, Global Moderators, Moderators, Ancients, and Elders. This will put to rest many of the problems that have caused strife between members and the staff as well as promoting a more stable and unified staff. Anyone in a privileged position at Battleforums will now be held to a higher standard that will be enforced.

I like the whole idea now the Admins have less moderation duties to take care of, but you should still give them a chance in case something happens without knowing it.

The new rules emphasize division of power, that doesn't mean the jobs don't overlap, just that each group has it's own special things to focus on. Also, let's keep the detailed discussion to BattleStaff, I just want to use this thread to keep people updated on what changes are going on, plus it's staff leaking BattleStaff content.

Sounds sorta like a big corporation or my college where theres a boss who has a boss who has about 8 more bosses above him where you can appeal to the boss directly above you but if hes some stupid twat that doesnt have a clue what hes on about, you can appeal to the next highest rank boss and so on.

Dont know about here, but by the time i appealed to the 5th highest boss, who just sits on his ass all day, for mysteriously loosing my coursework, hes so out of touch of what actually happens in the lower ranks that he has no clue abou it, doesnt know how to deal with it or just doesnt give a shit about it in general.

My point is communication. Isn't it a bit extreme to have so many leaders in one big hierarchy for here? I mean the population here is pretty big, but not THAT big, i think you kinda tryin to run before you can walk. Just my opinion..
