AVP2 movie, in theater for this Christmas

I can't believe how many 'money shots' are shown in this teaser. It also seems to tell too much of the plot .

As I understand it, there's only ONE Predator in this flick, but he's super-elite with dual shoulder cannons - sent to earth to clean up the mess left by the noobs in the last flick. And yes, we even see the Predator-Alien hybrid in this teaser.

TONS of gratuitous shots of head-bites, heads being dissolved by acid and just plain exploding heads. However, it looks better than the first movie and the aliens arent done in CGI, so I'm happy. I'm looking forward to it.

I actually LIKED the first AVP because I'm such an Alien/Predator fanboy, but this promises to be...just...divine.

I now have a new most highly-anticipated movie period.

Uhh, this is TOTALLY the point of AvP.

Two alien races that were formerly bent on shredding the fuck out of humans, matched up in a vicious hunt against one another.

Aliens exist to kill and reproduce, not giving a damn what the hell it is they're killing. They're almost perfect killing machines, with horrific spawning processes. They're essentially living nightmares with no feeling.

Predators are a race of hunters that prize humans as prey, valuing trophies of the "animals that can shoot back." They take delight in stalking and artfully killing us. They see the Aliens as amazing prey, as the Aliens are some of the deadliest creatures ever encountered in the discovered universe.

When the Preds bring a bunch of Aliens to Earth to infect human hosts and spawn a new Hive, the Preds get their chance to hunt both types of prey, the Aliens have a lovely new world to infest and slaughter, and the humans are just fucked when everything they encounter has about 50 different ways of brutally killing them.

AvP is SUPPOSED to be ugly, horrendous, and terrifying in the sheer savagery of it all. I liked the first movie, but it was a travesty against the two sci-fi horror series. It made the Predators too soft, and it made the Aliens too weak. In the first Alien movie, a single Drone wiped out an entire shipful of people in a stalk-and-kill horror hunt. In the first Predator movie, a single hunter annihilated an entire troop of seasoned Marines.

This new movie does justice to the heritage, where the first didn't.

Huh what, when i watched AvP, i thought the story went that the predators came to earth and helped the humans create civilisation and technology and whatnot in exchange for the humans giving sacrifices to breed the aliens to train the predators elite troopers in their testing ground temple whatsit..

I was quite stoned when i watched it but i remember the predators coming back down for their earth visit, blasting a hole in the ice on one of the poles and unearthing that temple.. With the fatass motherf**ker queen alien thing that kills the friendly predator near the end... Am i even thinking of the right film?

the official storyline from the oldass comics which the game was based on, which the movie was inturn semi based on was that the predators came to earth early in the humans lifespan. they helped build and create society, and lived as gods (like the first movie). they left, then brought the aliens to earth as sort of a rite of passage for other predators before they could. thats kinda how the first movie ended, and the first arc or two of the book ended. but then the alien preadtor hybrid came into existence during the grace period the predators had. word got around to the 'king' of the preds, whose the strongest/toughest so on and so forth predator in existence. he goes back to earth to face this new hybrid creature, who has been killing aliens and predators alike with ease. im not gonna spoil waht happens in the comics, as it looks like thats what theyre taking from for the movie, but the comics were amazing towards the end, even with the little dialogue they had.

Preds and aliens have coexisted together for very long. Knowing the nature of aliens, its hard to believe that this is the first case of an hybrid, ever.

well in the comics it explains that he's hunted down because the king of predators doesnt want anything stronger than him in the known universe

I never read the comics, although I greatly enjoyed the novels by the Perrys. The Bischoff one was ok, but Prey and War were the best.

Prey was essentially the badass version of the first AvP movie.

I don't know how closely the comics followed the novels' Predator society concepts, but I know that the "Blooding" of their warriors with the blood of their kills was in the Perry novels. As was the Predator teaming with a human woman to survive a large Alien infestation...resulting in the Predator being killed by a Queen, Blooding the woman, and the woman receiving a measure of respect from the rest of the Predators for this.

Apart from that, it was a completely different storyline...the book was better, really. Only reason I loved the movie so much is because I actually got to see them together on screen for the first time. The new movie is going to rock my socks.
