Anyone play 40k Dawn of War

I was curious if it is worth buying. The game looks interesting IMO.

While on the subject anyone play Warhammer 40k period here?

well the guys in my residence all went to EBgames, got this game, and we are having like Lan games and shit, it's pretty damn fun. It requires a better computer than you would need for something like WCIII, but in msot cases you can play it fine.

The actual game is pretty solid. Three are 5 races (and when a new expansion is released in October, it will be 7 races). Some people complain about imbalances, but at this point, we all suck so much we don't care. So far online is nothing special, but it gets the job done. In tersm of actual gameplay, it is pretty cool. No recource gatherers, just requisition point gained from held locations. If you need a better/more indepth description, just ask. Is it worth buying? I bought it, and so far I haven't regretted it.

I also bought it, the whole resource requisition (King of the hill style) is a nice change from your regular go and gather used by many RTS games.

What i don't like, is the end of the first campaign, and the whole of the expansion campaign. The story in the second one sucks ass. And the Imperial Guard piss me off, their voices are so ****ing annoying, i refuse to play that race. Space Marines ftw.

Well you don't buy a RTS for it's single palyer, but it is usualy a nice addition. It was kinda lame in many aspects, and I havent even bothered to finish the Expansion.

Also the Imperial Guard is the only race I have played, and is theo nly one I am using for awhile now.

Well, I play 40k the tabletop game (Blood Angels rock), and this was something interesting to me ... unfortunity my video card is not up to par so I will need to upgrade I guess.

I will get this though from what you both expalined, the resources are more along the lines of that Star Wars game for the pc. Which I liked alot.

Thanks for the help. I know about the expansion Winter Assult, and the new one coming out, which I can care less about, anything else that I should be looking forward to with the game itself.

My neighbor has the game and I've played it a couple times, it was pretty fun.

The actual boardgame, I've played it, but I never really got into it. I mean "SHIT I ROLLED A 4 I WIN" is only fun for so long. When I do play, I have an army of dwarves that I play with, <3 their high ass defense.

What they did really well, was make each race very unique. After playing Space Marines for god knows how long, i decided to try out Orcs. I was so ****ing confused that i got my ass handed to me in single player quite often. You have to learn each race separately, because all their buttons and tech trees are so unique.

well the Space MArines, and the Chaos along with the Imperial Gaurd are off the bat easiest and straight foreward. The Orks really messed me up, as did the eldar. Each race is insanely unique.

We should get some guys together and play some games from BF.

I would love that idea, but I need to upgrade first. I bought it and got a error messege saying Spoog wheel something or other, basically its my graphics card Grrrrrr.

I ahd a problem with My ATI card, where the driver being used was not only out of date, that specific driver was completely incompatible with the game. Took a little while to figure it out, but I am now playing it quite fine on a 5 or so yearold video card radeon 9500.
