Anybody know anything about Paint.NET?

It's supposed to be a free download program that works a lot like Photoshop, kinda like how the OpenOffice.org package is supposed to mirror the MS Office package. I DLed it, opened it up, and the interface seems similar, but I'm not sure where all the neato tools are...anybody here with Paint.NET experience?

I thought it was just for pixel art...

I think it does subtle things. Draw a 3x2 picture and fill each of the 6 boxes with a different colour. Then stretch the image to any dimension and watch what it does. That is an example.*
