so..ive been thinkin about possibly purchasing a vbulletin (leased) license ($85/yr)..but didnt wanna take on the whole cost. so i was wondering if there are any committed, responsible people here that would be willing to share the cost and become co-admins of the site. all details could be worked out, but id be hoping to get at least 5 or 6+ people before beginning the project. maybe ebay shares of the site off idk, something.
any1 interested?

those are the details id be willing to workout with anyone that has serious intent. right now ive got a definite yes from a personal friend, and almost another yes from another friend. so right now thats already 3. (those friends live in another state so everything is balanced between contributers). i want to steer away from gaming. nothing like BF, im not looking for a gaming site. something new or popular. of course we could all work out ideas. wed try it for a year (about $15/yr per person) then if we dont like it by the end we quit, if we do tho, we could continue with a license.

I'd help, but here's the thing:

more than 2-3 admins makes it way too complicated. It becomes a "let's hand out high positions as personal favors" and becomes less of a real qualified team.

as well, I wouldn't want to shell out money for a forum that I'd potentially have nothing to do with really. Unless it's based on something I know I'll be actively interested in, I'm not just going to pay for your site out of the goodness of my heart. I'd need some details worked out BEFORE I paid.

That said, I can do more than 15 bucks a year. Shit, I could probably do twice that or more.

well theres the thing. id wanna get input from the people involved to see what kinda forum wed wanna run. we could make a .txt of a demo forum like

example-

ANIMALS
-bunnies
-dogs

CARE
-injuries
-food

a demo like that to share with those contibuting. something that attracts people, not something lame. we can work it out, but we all needta put our own input in first to see what we come up with. ive been thinkin of a couple and ill post em up when i decide its up to par so to speak.
and wed enforce rules with each other, and hopefully make a "battlestaff" as to who we decide to promote and demote etc, and do nothing as far as making mods n such without talking to the other admins and having good reason etc.
and just an fyi, ive been thinking a totally seperate Applications forum on the page would get high traffic

EDIT: and with one member paying a signifantly greater amount than the others i feel a "well this site is more mine than urs" etc

I guess, but the thing is that everyone'd have to do more apiece then, because frankly more than 2-3 people considered as "admins" is just excessive for a new forum. I'd say 2 admins to shoulder ALL the startup shit, and 1 mod to handle the moderation tasks would be more than enough to take care of anything a brand new forum would need to handle.

true..i agree that more than 2-3 admins is unnecessary, but those paying for their share do deserve an admin spot. and i am willing to pay $25ish which is why im looking for co-owners to lower the individual cost. unless there would be 2-3 admins paying around $20, then mods that pay $3 or $5?
any ideas?

Better, but when I say 2-3 admins, i really mean 2-3 total staff...the setup I described is the best I can think of.

Perhaps 2 admins, each paying $35, and the moderator paying $15?

that sounds reasonable. if my other friend were to do it tho, we could have 2 admins, 2 mods. ===admins - 25 || mod - 17 or somethin.

Maybe something like

General forum
-talk
Entertainment forum
-games whatevrr
Applications forum
-downloads via rapidshare/megaupload etc to avoid legal issues or shit im unaware of

an "everything" website or a themed website

a lot to think out before we decide to begin

you know i slightly remember JD inflames making a BF clone site... basically all BF members went there to be the "first" group of members but it failed miserably.

I know you want to be an admin of something but just put your stuffed animals up and control them. Its less costly and more fun :D Tea time.

if youre talking about me, i want nothing to do with BF or the style of it. this site is a social failure. every1 has their cliques, its just not very friendly and kinda sucks. some ppl are alright, others just try too hard to be funny

i came up with an idea the other day and its gunna be awesome. no1 else is needed.
