Review Anti-Paparazzi Law

How DARE you. How effing dare you take away the only thing these attention whores crave and live for. This is the only thing these Stars know, in fact its mainly the reason why they are in the entertainment busniess. Hell, Lindsay Lohan may never be the same now that she can sue the papzi which basically are the only ones keeping her in the spot light. Same goes for cPanel®, and countless other names. Sorry Chris Crocker, your whore is all dried up.

I totally forget about Miley Cyrus! That slut, she doesn't really need the papzi. Only because she alone posts plenty about herself. Can she even post the shit she takes?? Is she even 18 yet??? The only legal issue with this one is the 40 year old dudes m-ing it up all over their keyboards. Too graphic, just don't think about it.

Closing Statement: Getting a picture of these attention whores is now a rare-er-type of comodity. Good hunting!

I'm glad. Celebrities are still people and ought to be granted basic civility... and as a consumer, honestly, I'd be happier not to be inundated with inane photos and details of these people's lives. Would rather let fame go to people for their accomplishments.

But when you put it that way, something in me flares up and says: This could be a good time to invest in a sniper camera! XD

Agreed with Raya Wolfsun. How dare these 'people' invade the privacy of mega celebrities? They really sometimes need their butts kicked, literally. I never liked media as they always like to just spread gossips and crap that they are not even sure about.

Well, obviously I don't think anyone care where and what they eat. But taking random pictures of celebrates isn't a crime. Yes, the papzi goes overboard but people buy it. All the magazines of pop culture thrive on knowing every move of these people. A law isn't going to stop anything from progressing an industry that, in essence, is based on knowing what these celebrates do 24-7. =\

This is true - and as you conclude in your first post, making it illegal actually increases the value of paparazzi photos!

Taking random photos is one thing... but then I recall something I encountered in a bookstore. It was one of those big, glossy, coffee-table volumes - I think it was just called Paparazzi - and the blurb on the back talked about celebrating the "dedication" and whatnot of people who will go stalker-like lengths to get photos, all in the name of "serving" the public. Ugh - really, the rhetoric made me retch. I'm sure the photos inside the book would have too.

But it raises some interesting points. Are these photos really taken because people care so much about celebrities? It's obvious that there is a base of consumers for these things - but I think for the photographers themselves, it's often more about the money and/or the challenge of getting the photo.

Furthermore - and this was brought up in the original post - what makes a celebrity, after all, if not this kind of (over)exposure? A politician or film star may get it through their work, but what about someone like Paris Hilton? I ask myself, what has she actually done (correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't all her acting and music stints AFTER she became famous)? A friend once described her as "famous for being famous", and that does seem to ring oddly true... :out:

I am always tickled about how you can take a photo of a celebrity in the nude sunbathing in their estate and its cool....

But if you did that to a normal person you become a Stalker, sex offender, and a pervert.

But for papparazzi its alright because they're getting paid.

You highlight something I've always found interesting about celebrities. On the one hand, they seem to be held up as these greater-than-great demigod-like figures. (I want to argue they have similar status to heroes of ancient Greece who had cults spring up around them.) On the other hand, nobody is given sh*t for their actions quite like celebrities - and it seems that their fame causes them to lose rights as much as they gain new privileges. Either way, they gain the status of something "Other" compared to everyone else... I'll even go out on a limb and say that there's an extent to which they lose their humanity (at least in the public eye).
