and how do u duel?

hardcore = when you die, your char is gone

soft core = when you die, you can grab your corpse containing your items.

You can duel by hostiliing players in Party screen, only works in town, and mind you, you wont be able to use Way points and townportals (way points for short time). You can only go hostile against players when your lvl is above/is 9.

BTW,

D2 manuals can help, I suggest you reading it if you are new, it may give more information that people on BF could give.
