This is ****ed up, but it isn't half as bad as women in Saudia Arabia getting lashings for being raped.

1) Adultery is punished by lashes in various Islamic states
2) Some countries punish by Islamic law over what seems to be common sense, which is a shame
3) This has nothing to do with Islam

clearly if a religion says to do something it has to do with a religion if those rules were enforced.

Clearly, if you had bothered to read the ****ing news report properly, the only mention of Islam is the AP's own interpretation of a similarity and the fact that an Islamic organisation condemned it, and there are obviously Islamic organisations in Malaysia.

Rais Yatim's idea is that women travelling alone should carry a letter from parents or an organisation detailing their travelling details - no mention of Islam.

Stop throwing red herrings around.*

the thing is laws like this are happening more and more no matter what part of the world you live in. I just read a story where some girl was beaten by her brother or father for something silly that supposedly shamed the family

no it really aint. its facsism. the more people that are just accepting its all for the best, the more the government think they can get away with it and the more they'll do it..

its taking away the freedom of privacy of them so the suits know what they can do when theyre away, or so they say to ''prevent drugs trafficing''. you shouldnt have to tell them what the hell youre up to, it has nothing to do with them. and what would happen if it wasnt possible to get such a letter from parent or employer? stuck there.

i must be missing something, cos that sounds pretty ****ing fascist to me man..

It is, indeed, facism. But in the middle east, and many asian countries this is the norm. Business as per usual.
