there were only 2 things i ever wanted from the starcraft map editor.. what im wondering is what the capabilities of this one is, like how it works and what the advantages/disadvantages are.. like did they change the location/trigger system, or the terrain system, or what? anyways, what im really curious about (because if they do have it they will almost definitely add it to SC2 when it is released), is if it has trigger conditions that let you check 2 things.. one thing is being able to tell what the hit points of a unit are (like "Unit has # hitpoints at location" or "Unit has % hitpoints at location"), and being able to tell if a unit has been hit by a certain other unit so many times or even if it just checked it at all (like "Unit has been hit by Unit").. the lack of those 2 conditions is what really supresses a lot of map potential on starcraft

if you own the game, open the editor, but if u don't, the answer is yes there changes to the location/trigger system, and yes you can have 2 conditions

Of those multiple conditions are functions for checking health/health percent, and another boolean-returning function that checks location

So yes, you can check their health and if they're in the location you want, or the % health... (This could be done with simple math, no need for an extra function... but it's there anyways)

And for the 3rd thing you said... being attacked by a certain unit and having a certain life, you can set a boolean [boolean array representing player number] to true after they get attacked by the unit you want, and check their life every time they are attacked afterwards

I suggest that you quit SC and start WC3 map making, its hard at the beginnning, but every game in starcraft is rigged nowadays, and WC3 is just so much more versatile.

The HP% can be set with Handicaps and Set Life value. IF you are not good with wc3 triggers, it is going to be 10x more difficult to find the basics. Warcraft Editor is 20x better than Starcraft's once you get the hang of things.

Help wise here at Battleforums: I am great with making abilities, units, heroes, items, and editing the Gameplay Constants and Game Interface. Darimus and Tassadar are great help with triggers, but they carry the same skills I do :).

To your life problem. If you have a scoreboard, store an unit's hp count in a integer variable. On the scoreboard, update the variable every 0.5 seconds to reflect HP count.

i would if i had warcraft 3.. lol.. i threw away all my warcraft games after i got suckered into buying them.. i still have my original copy of starcraft and broodwar, both i bought off of a friend of mine somewhere between 4-6 years ago (not entirely sure) for 20 bucks together, since they looked cool.. then i got suckered into buying warcraft and warcraft 2 b.net edition from him too in the hopes they would be even half as good.. and i didn't think they were after playing for about an hour, lol.. the only thing i liked about it was the inclusion of naval units, but it didn't make up for the lack of.. everything else, lol.. someone left a message on one of the starcraft forums saying i should get wc3 because the editor capabilities were far superior, and i figured if it was true, then starcraft 2 would be as well when they eventually make it.. and obviously it is very much true, lol :p

edited: i forgot to mention that one of the biggest turn offs for the first 2 warcraft games was that i disliked their editors greatly.. if i dislike a game, it having a bad editor makes me hate it, and if i like a game, it having a good editor makes me love it.. kinda like tenchu 2.. or cataclysm.. lol :p

Because Warcraft III was done with 3d models and stuff, so they had to include a powerful Warcraft III Edtior engine ^_^

Starcraft Ghost will, but not sure about Starcraft 2.

Please don't lead me responsible for bumping this thread.

Alrighty, just use Warcraft Editor a lot, and you shouldn't have a problem!
