I was doing my Advanced C++ assignment 3 - where we had to make a "Green Screen" interface using DTIO functions and classes. I worked on it for one day, and it was due today at 11:59:59 PM. And so I rush it through, and managed to get up to Screen done (the container for all the media). Then, I was going to send it to myself on my email, but then..... I get an email from my professor. It turns out he extends it till Friday, and I basically finished 90% of it by rush job.

I bet you guys have had scenarios like this one. Where you rush job something, then there is a silver lining at the end of it.

No. They're all rush jobs and none of them get extended. That's why i fail.
Most of us are accustomed to last minute work, I just happen to have better luck than a lot of you. Hell, I had a short story published in my College's Creative Writing course, and it was written, edited and submitted on the last day (the editing was done the day of it).

Quite the opposite. I do it nice and gently, then when it gets extended, it pisses me off since I end up spending more time in labs making my code better.*

One time I pulled an all nighter to work on a self portrait for a solid 24 hours and when I got to class the next day the prof had canceled the class without notice.

I remember not finishing a paper because I felt like going to bed, but I found out the date was being extended that day in class. Procrastinating really pays off.

A similar scenario happened to me in my macro-econ class 2 years ago. I had a final which was due the second to last day in class that I had spent all night working on. Well when I get to class some stupid ***** complains that she needs one more week to finish and he gave in to the *****...So basically I could have slept that night instead of rushing to finish that final.

Another one I have:

I was in Great Detective Fiction. I was doing decently, but I did terrible on the first test. So anyways, there was one beacon of hope: A 35% research paper that we had 4 weeks to do.

Knowing me, I left it to the last week. It was due Wednesday and it was my only class that day. The class was at 3:20 pm, but I had to leave the house at 2.

Monday: Got all the research ready
Tueday: Did a decent rush job - 3 1/2 of 5 paragraphs
Wednesday: Got up at 9 and finished it at 1, left for the bus.

I got to school and handed it in. 1 week later, I get my mark back. I get 79%.

The odd thing: The same professor for that course was the same one that supervised the creative writing course I took last semester with the short story that got published. So I basically replicated my old writing style that got me A. I later finished the course with a B, even though I failed the first test.

I like extensions when I haven't done anything. But I hate them when I have the assignment either
mostly done, or all of it.

I woke up this morning only to discover I had assignments due on two chapters, in 6 hours. So naturally I took the first hour to watch the new episode of Dexter that had finished downloading (such an awesome show). Then I spent the next 5 hours mingling with friends on the internet and learning the stuff I had to do in the assignment. Finished Chapter 11 an hour before it was due, and chapter 12 9 minutes before class. Handed it in on time.

For the most part it is never extended, I just hope it is then find out it isn't and fail.

Hell, I just got my GAM666 assignment extended to next friday, because the code he provided us to work with didn't take into consideration about object destruction and re-employment.
