I don't know how many people here have experience in this area, but I am planning on going overseas in the summer and was wondering if anyone had any tips on finding the best ticket prices, ways of making the price go lower (if possible), just any pointers you'd be willing to give if you have experience in this area. For example, I have heard that ticket prices can vary drastically over a few days due to airline IT systems trying to maximize their profits based on available seating and that sort of thing.

From what I've heard, the best way to go is just to track prices over several days. Get an idea of how much tickets generally go for, and then when you see the prices drop, buy them. Not too complicated.

You might be able to find cheap tickets while at the theater since they might offer seats that no one has occupied for a discount or something. I've never bought any tickets before. Sorry about that. Where are you planning to go?

have fun on your trip to w/e you are going to. Finding cheap tickets is easy if you have someone working for the airlines that can get free/discounted tickets for ya. Other than that, just keep a look out for cheap prices as others have mentioned.

no man, the only way to buy tickets is to find someone who travels a lot and ask them to do it for you.

Or just don't buy tickets and try to sneak aboard an airplane.

Priceline could be an option? You can pick your price and they will pick the days. I believe there is also some website that alerts you when low fares are avaliable?

As someone that travels around the worold more than often, I would suggest contacting a website like Priceline, or Orbitz, or even Travelocity. The earlier you buy the ticket the cheaper the price will be, if you wait to long to get your ticket it is going to cost you alot more. It also greatly depends on the airline, and how you want to travel. you can even talk to a travel agent for help, I have dealt with this neough, but mostly the "Travel Department" deals with this kind of stuff.
