Ack..new to pickit (well not really..but)

When pickit loads in game it has characters that look like its supposed to be for color, but shows the characters and not the color same thing for the item drop notice. The item names appear with color code but no color. Also all gold and potions, when I mouse over them on ground the have like 500000 0's in the name with lines through the 0's. I know theres a way to fix these things, how do I do it?

would his resolution and color settings both in game and off have an effect on it?
