A weird one for all you pros....

I play on a mod called Nezmorontias, the server is run outta some guys computer so he has access to everything. He recently informed everyone that he is moving, so the realm/server will be down for some time. But what he did do was send everyone their character files.. or so he says. He uploaded them all to filecloud.com so we downloaded them put them in the save folder. I just tried my first char (147 sorc) and as soon as i click what difficulty i want to play it loads for like 2 seconds and then says "Unable to enter game" Now this doesnt happen when i play with a newly created character. So what my problem is... is that the character files he has sent me dont work on single player... they are the same file types (.d2s) as the others but they just dont work.. i dont know why... can someone tell me how i can get this to work... thanks!

Ok here is how it works, if you have a corrupted charecter file it will not let you enter games because of the conflict with the npcs etc... what i am trying to say is that single player only allows you to have lvl 99 chars and original diablo 2 items (meaning you cant have your soul stealer medalion on...) So pretty much your char wont work on diablo at all and will only work with his server.

Really? i thought that it would just drop everythign (lvls items, etc.) while in D2 and then add them when in a mod. oh well.

single player uses the same mod as the realm.... because i play single and open to figure out stuff i can use on closed.... so that isnt the reason... also i have a single player character just over 200 with a soul medallion...

Well thats got me stumped, do you use the mod to over run ur d2.exe file or the patch file?

the patch file... i replaced it all 2gether with the mods version....

Oh well depending on what he has put into that patch may or may not accept something on your charecter... check with the guy who manages the server

the patch i use is the same as the one he has.... i play it on a closed realm... and on sp it the exact same..

Ok what files did you get when you downloaded the mod?

when i got the mod i got a bunch of readmes, a few dos batch files and a new patch (The batch files are for backing up the old diablo patch so that i can play it if i want to, instead of the mod) other then that nothing else.

dos batch=to what you say just back-up the old d2 patch so no change there...
new patch=THE CHANGE

like i said its your patch that wont allow your char to be played on single...

i found the problem and it isnt the patch, the problem is that the closed characters are saved as a different type of character to prevent single player usage..
