You and your russian nationalism...

It was as easy to the soviets to nuke the US as it was the opposite.

Yeah but US wanted always wanted to maintain their "good guy" status, USSR on the other hand was following, a slightly different policy.

what do you think would have happend if there was not power as strong if not superior or weaker to the ussr? and there was no one for them to compete with?

USSR would probably rule the world, and everyone would get used to communism instead of Democracy.

are you aware that without america(the whole side with nato) the world wouldnt have such wonders as space technology? or advanced flight? because without someone to compete with and with only communism, why make lives better or try and be better than someone else?

About space technology, i remind oyu again who put a first man in space, first satelite in orbit, and first space station in orbit, about flight, i think it was either english or french who made first commercially available passanger airplane.

but what pressed russia/ussr to put a man in orbit? ok about the plane maybe i was wrong, but i think there were more things because we were in a race between eachother to find who was better i guess.

Well it would have taken a longer time, but eventually we would make those things. Besides its not like people would regret not having them, if they dont know they exist then they just live life like they had for years.

and if the world was a communist empire, then there would never be a need for technology to change right?

but they get paid the same no mater what. no incentive to work hard. the only reason you worked hard during the space race was to compete with us. with a world united soviet union, there would be no reason to do a good job.. at anything.

Death could be quite the motivator to some people.

I thought of that... But you would have a hell of a lot of resistance trying to control the world in the first place, especially killing everyone who doesnt work to the governments standards. And how would you build an army to control the people if the people would be killing people just like them and their family... one nation, people wouldnt feel like they serve much of a purpose in an army with only themselves to fight..

but if you have a powerful enough dedicated enough force that was strong enough to take the world, then yes, you have a point. they could kill people who dont work hard enough.

eh, good point.. i dont know why his soldiers didnt rebel against the ultranationalists killing them for treason and stuff.. maybe they thought they first had to win the war with germany or nothing good would happen.. hell, i dont nkow how stalin got people to kill their own kind. the germans and japaneese could at least say they were a superior race and they should kill the inferiors... how did stalin get his people to kill themselves? he wasnt worshipped as a god as the japs seen their emporer.. and stalin couldnt make a racial cause... how the hell did stalin do it?call them traitors? super nationalism?

he had his private army kill people for not doing there job or not supporting him.

And he didn't directlly kill 20 million people as I am sure otto will point out. 15 million were probally caused by starvation and war.

5million is still alot of people to kill. insane what a small group of loyalists can do... they had weapons the civilians didnt.. they were organized.. i can see how it worked.. i just cant see how the russian soldiers allowed their commanders to kill soldiers for retreating in battle and such.. they were armed, and there was alot more of them. maybe they knew without their commanders they couldnt beat the germans.. but itd be tough watching your officer shoot your buddy for treason when mayeb he got freaked out... id want to turn around and shoot his ass. im sure plenty of soldiers felt that way..
