Arcane or C-C, didn't know where to put it, so I put it here. I figure there would be more intelligant responses here, so yea.

I've been thinking a lot lately about my life, and the lives of others, and I came to asking myself this question;

"If I were to be able to save a handful of strangers from certain death, yet it would cost me my own life, would I do it?"

I found myself actually sitting on this question, trying to figure out an answer to it, and I came to the conclusion that I would give my life to save a handful of strangers. It's not so much that I'm ready to die or anything like that, but in my mind, sacrificing ones own life, to save the life of 16times the amount of his own, would be a very noble and honorable thing to do.

If you were given the choice between saving yourself, or lets say...16 random people, which would you choose, and why?

I think it would depend on the Strangers, situation, and timing. It sure is a good boost of honor and pride for you at the last seconds of your life but would the people you saved be greatful?

Alot of people aren't grateful these days what with the Boom boxes and the flashy tv games.

Personally i can care less if strangers die. I prolly got some good times comin up, i am gonna ride this life out.

You could kill yourself and spend all your money to people in africa (do that before), you'll save more than 16 people. Why are you even dealing with the whole death thing here? You don't need to die to rescue 16 people, you just have to get off your egoism. And that would be more honorable, yet you haven't done it, have you ever spent a lot of money to poor children? If you say you would kill yourself for 16 strangers then you're just lieing. That is all.

And Static, if it depends on the strangers, then they're not strangers.

Saving Strangers is always such a drag. There is no honor in it. Don't fool yourself into thinking there is. Live your life by the teachings of the Grand Clam and you'll be doing the best you can. It's sure allot more fun.

I'd save em, cause when you die while saving a persons life, you know you'll be up in heaven.

Thanks for making this thread void material by adding only one sentence. Great job.

I think that adds an element of selfishness to it. If I were God and you saved people with the reward of heaven on your mind I would damn you.

I would not do it. No.

I'm not willing to give up my life, and what I have for a handful of strangers. I don't even know them...why would I do that?? If it were a good friend, or a close family member, then I would think about it.

It must be a great honor to save 16 randoms' life. but if it costs my own life, I wouldn't even dare to think of it. I'm too scared of death, and I love to stay alive :). as long as I don't believe in jejus christ, I believe that I'll turn into a piece of albumen when I die.

All my money, eh? that would be approximately $1.36 USD right now...I highly doubt that would save 16 lives...

...and its all relative...eve if I DID have the money to save 16 lives right now (which I don't), and went ahead with your suggestion and commited suicide to save those lives... the world may not be better off..

for all I know...I could start a hospital in Africa in the future and save a lot more than 16 lives...

could i take the lives of 16 people of my choice with me ? if i was going to die or kill myself i would try and kill as many evil ****s as i could with me, sounds very terrorist of me but i'm on about real evil people, not just people with diffrent religous thinking to me, man i cant spell but anyway religion causes war and death, and if the bible is actully true and god exists then billions of people still dided for nothing so my idea is

i die 16 people live = still thousands of evil bastards ready to kill and still 100's of people dying everyday

If it would those would be my country men then of course, if it was 1800's i would already give my life in a battle with Poliaks, or Turks, honor is bigger then you, one day we will all die, but only those who didn't die for nothing will be remembered for ever. I'd rather take a saber, get on my horse and ride with my fellow comrades against those who threaten my motherland's peace, i would rather die in that battle then die of old age but knowing that i have lived for nothing more then myself.

The whole idea of this thread is useless since everybody will die at some point, it's just a matter of time. You can't save someone's life, you can just prolongen his time.

Not always... if you see 16 black people with blue bandanas and blue shirts with retarded ass tatoos... they deserve what will happen to them.

if you didnt catch on they are gang members.

hmm, tough descision. If i had kids and a wife, likely not. Dieing for 16 people and leaving a family all alone, especially if i were close with my wife and kids, then it would likely cause great depression with the family. This i would not save their lives. It would be a greater honor to protect ones family than to save 16 others.

Now, if i wernt married and didnt have kid, i would likely do it because there's less concern about the effect of myself.

I have an interesting spin on this,

What if you had the choice to save 16 people at the cost of a 10 year coma. Would you do it?

Hnm, some mixed feelings on this thread. BTW; Kor, my family and I send a min. of 50$ a month to charitible Red Cross in africa, just to let you know.

I don't think I explained it enough, I didn't mean "strangers" per sae, I ment random people. Now, this could mean 16 people from your family, or 16 drunk ally bums...

What happens if one of the 16 were part of your family?

what if thats what you said and thats what i was commenting on?

if it was 16 family members, i would definitly risk my life to the point of death to protect them.

It depends what family members were going to be killed :)

..but still, I don't know. I mean, if it were 16 people I don't know..no I wouldn't. I wouldn't even think about it.

If it were a family member, that would be different...
