I decided to open this topic to give you a nice info about iron golem (Necro skill): if you raise that golem from a item which has "level xx yy Aura when equipped", the golem will have that aura.

This can be nice to make some original builds for a necro (especially summoner): the only drawback is that when you / the golem die, you've lost a great item.

But it can be challenging to make a pvm summoner necro with iron golem raised from a "beast" weapon (if you're VERY rich, of course ) to have on your minions Might (from merc) + Fana (from golem) and be teh pwnage.

Technically, you could make an Etheral Doom Zerker, (or beast), and have the best merc EVER.

If I were to make an Iron golem, I would never do it from an X-tra damaging weapon like a Doom Zerker or a Beast Thunder Maul, but I would prefer a low-damaging eth weapon (like a eth Double axe). The reason is mainly one: Iron maiden. I don't want to see my golem die from IM, and since in my idea the iron golem is more a "support" than a "killer", I prefer to raise it from a low-dmg weapon rather than making it godly, but in real danger when Oblivion Knights are on your way.

A nice (and not so godly, in terms of cost) idea can be raising the iron golem from Azurewrath: it will have Sanctuary aura and it will keep souls / dolls / all undeads far from you.

Lol, anybody know the iron golem breakpoints?

I've also heard that iron golems are not affected by -resists per difficulty level or max resist caps, so making one from a wizspike makes it totally immune to elemental damage if you have any points in summon resist. However, I think this is no more than a rumor.

I'm gonna have to do some testing in sp.

Hey would this also work with metal grid? Say I have metalgrid on my amazon and i make a iron golem out of a beast. Would It stay with her like a necros would? Just a thought, it would really be helpful for an amazon with fana.

Yes, but remember that a Golem summoned from a Metalgrid doesn't have the critical life bonus which a Necromancer receives from Golem Mastery and the resist bonus from Summon resist, so it will be a very, very weak Golem. Raising it from a beast can be a real suicide, cuz of its low HP / 0 resists in Hell.
