Do you think this will help the forum?
1) When either D3 or SC2 come out we should offer contests that distribute the game to posters with 100+ posts. This, in turn, will allow some of our longtime members and posters to get the game and be able to share their experience. And having a post limit on the contest encourages people to post more.
2) The staff needs to have a uniform approach to everything without dissent. If something is implemented and one of the staff doesnt like it he can voice it in staff. But outside of the staff forum he should support whatever staff decisions are made in order to promote Staff unity and change the negativity amongst our staff members.
3) We need to start posting more and more links to various gaming articles regarding news about that game. It needs to be done regularly (daily if necessary), in order to provide a steady source of content on the newest blizzard game.
4) A hacking forum. Whether you agree with it or not, we should probably consider re-enstating the hacking forum to promote traffic to the site. Some people just want to cheat on games and provided that it's within the law we should promote it.
5) Get rid or merge the following forums.
- Merge media central and the comics forum or merge Media central and comics and Chit-chat.
- Merge the asylum and the void.
6) Consider possibly getting rid of at least some of the advertisements. I know the first thing I thought when I saw the new skin was that there was WAAAAAAAy to many advertisements on the page. Instead of forcing people to register to get rid of them just get rid of alot of them in general.

Shutup

edit: I should clarify what I mean by "shutup". I mean until BF gets an admin who actually wants to put more effort into the forum and actually create a community, nothing will matter. Basically every owner of the forum has been it for nothing more than a quick buck (except may be Crookedfoot).

It is a waste of time to ask for change when the owner doesn't want to do anything in the first place.

1. Post limit or not, offering a contest that uses either of the new games as an award is definitely a good idea.

2. While the staff agreeing on everything in the public is a good thing, a uniform approach is not always the best. Discretion is important. Moreover, it would be more prudent to get staff members that are polite, firm and fair, instead of removing that discretion and replacing it with uniformity.

3. Definitely agreed. For the past couple of years BF has had some serious issues with actual content. I know Donny got a ton of new content from his contests (nice job there btw), however, I haven't really seen a whole lot yet. Hopefully something is done with that and not let to waste. But I do agree, constant new content would be nice.

4. A hacking forum both hurts and helps. Some people really like it, while others won't join because of it. It should be noted though that BF did have hacking forums in its prime. Also, it's not illegal to have these forums (with respect to hacking within Blizzard games). The hacking forums have always been a controversial issue. One that I don't care to elaborate on further and that Donny can have fun with. ;)

5. A.Yes B.No Although I do believe The Asylum needs to be only viewable to users with 5+ posts. So they can dip their feet in BF and then get a true taste and decice on the pros and cons on their own; some newbies may enjoy The Asylum (although this is rare as they're always torn up in there) while others may leave because of it. But if they have at least 5 posts they're able to see that they can just avoid The Asylum. Maybe an option in the user cp so the user can decide for themselves whether they want to view The Asylum or not? Something to ponder.

6. One or two could go but all in all theres no huge impact.

Some great points here. I strongly believe that the first and only thing we should focus on as of now, is quality content. Really, that's the only reason why people join the forums anyways. We already have some guys working on updating the portal news every time something new comes up, but most of it will need to come from within the forums.

I will try to get the staff to take the lead in posting some high quality blizzard-related content.

Thanks,
Donny

New idea.
1) We should probably have the staff put links to the forum of the most current game and/or forum that the site is working on generating activity for in their sigs. We can encourage posting in here by either holding contest for posts inside and giving away a prize that holds some value. Or we could offer incentives for very well detailed write-ups...etc.

Pretty much, yes. However, I feel that a once per few months would be best, until the release date of such games. If we can get new members in, keep them staying in...hopefully by the time either SC2 or D3 comes out, we'll have a good amount more members. This is, essentially, what I was going to talk to kinkarso about next time I got a chance. Amongst other things.

2) The staff needs to have a uniform approach to everything without dissent. If something is implemented and one of the staff doesnt like it he can voice it in staff. In the staff forum right now theres a new rule sheet that we're working on, for both members and mod's alike. Once it goes into effect, it will be much easier to work as a uniformed staff. Give it a week.

3) We need to start posting more and more links to various gaming articles regarding news about that game. It needs to be done regularly (daily if necessary), in order to provide a steady source of content on the newest blizzard game.
Kinkarso just gave 3 or 4 of us new admin powers so we can set edit and create news articles, so we'll be in full motion soon, one would hope. Give it a week or two.

4) A hacking forum. Whether you agree with it or not, we should probably consider re-enstating the hacking forum to promote traffic to the site. Some people just want to cheat on games and provided that it's within the law we should promote it.
We need a hacking squad before we get hacks. Host other peoples hacks isn't something I'd like to see us do.

No, yes.

Guest should be able to post. There I said it. Besides, if we got rid of the advertisements, I guarentee you Kinkarso would disappear, as he's pretty much here for the money.

How would you be able to moderate the guests?

I also think we need to have another staff suggestion forum like we did before. Where you could post a topic inside and only the staff and you could see it.
